Stories have something to say whether you want them to or not

All stories have [[Multiple Interpretations]]. You may see the superhero man saving all the women and children from the villain as a great hero story about "goodness" personified. Someone else could see it as patriarchy personified. Another could see it as "women can be heroes, too". Or the villain could be villainizing someone with a mental disability. or something else entirely. though i would hope there's more nuance to people's interpretations.

Just because someone else sees a story in a different way from you does not mean their interpretation is wrong. It does also not mean you can disregard their criticism of that interpretation by saying "this story is not 'political'. Stop trying to bring politics into my favorite story." or its equivalents.
